Boat Trailer Roller Selection Guide

Boat Trailer Roller Selection Guide

How to choose the right boat trailer roller by type, material and size. From Viking Rollers, an Australian trailer roller supplier backed by 30 years of trade and wholesale experience.

What rollers do

Boat trailer rollers support and guide the hull on and off the trailer during launch and retrieval, and they cushion the load while towing. The right setup spreads the boat weight correctly, protects the hull finish, and makes single-person launching easier.

Roller types by position

  • Keel Roller supports the keel along the centreline. The main weight-bearing roller down the spine of the boat.
  • Bow Roller supports and locates the bow at the front, including jet ski applications.
  • Bilge Roller supports the hull along the bilge line to share the load and keep the boat upright.
  • Sydney Roller a wide roller for broad hull support.
  • Concave Roller a curved, cradling profile for rounded hull sections.
  • Self-Centre Roller angled to guide and centre the boat during loading.
  • V Block a V-profile support for the keel or bow.

A typical trailer combines keel and V block on the centreline, bilge or Sydney rollers for side support, and bow and self-centre rollers at the front.
